We work in person with children at our therapy rooms in Seaham on the East Durham coast. Drawing on a variety of creative techniques including play, art, sand tray, clay we support children to explore and make sense of their inner and outer worlds.
Parents bring their children to us for a number of reasons including:
- trauma
- neurodiversity
- anxiety
- school related challenges
- major life changes
- bereavement
Every child is already ok. Our work is not to change who they are but to understand them, support them and help them grow in ways that feel safe, meaningful and true.

Research consistently shows that children and young people thrive when they feel safe, heard, and supported by a trusted adult. The Good Childhood Report by The Children's Society highlights that emotional wellbeing is strongly linked to having at least one reliable, understanding adult who listens without judgement and offers consistent support.
Children who have access to this kind of support are more resilient, experience greater emotional wellbeing, and are better able to cope with life’s challenges. Those who do not are more vulnerable to anxiety, low mood, and emotional distress.
At the heart of our psychotherapy practice is the creation of exactly this kind of safe, supportive space. Therapy offers children and young people a calm, confidential environment where they can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace, knowing they will be taken seriously and treated with care and respect.
Our therapists provide a steady, attuned adult presence, helping clients feel emotionally safe enough to express themselves, make sense of difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping. This approach reflects the findings of The Good Childhood Report: that feeling listened to and understood is not a luxury, but a fundamental building block of mental wellbeing. We work with parents to help them build on this for the long term benefit of the child.
By offering a consistent and trusted therapeutic relationship, we aim to support children and young people to build confidence, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of self; both now and into the future.
